- The start/ loading screen can be closed with a click.
- When Annotations are turned off, they now appear on mouse-hover.
- When a tool is dragged onto the canvas, the focus goes to the properties window for immediate editing.
- User Settings (Document Tab)
- Layout Default for new modules can be changed to vertical.
- An indicator (+) can be displayed to show which tools on the canvas are macros
- The Overview window has been turned off by default. Use the View menu or Ctrl+Alt+V to turn it on.
- The Start Page (“Resources”) and Community website can be accessed in the Help menu.
- New Tool Palette functionality

- Arrow connections between tools now route better
- Numerous fixes have been made to the Tool Container and it has been moved out of the Laboratory.
- Spacing has been added to Annotations and Comment tools for better legibility.
- Tools can now be selected by clicking on the entire icon, not just the little white box.
- The red slash-square has been replaced with an exclamation mark.
- Tools dropped onto the canvas (or copy/pasted) now snap to the grid.
- Alteryx Engine has been renamed Alteryx Designer.
- Known Issues:
- Macros created in 8.5 must have a custom image assigned to them in order to be backwards compatible with version 7.1.
- Maximize/ Resize issue: If the Alteryx Designer is un-maximized by dragging the title bar downward, it cannot be re-sized along the edges and the maximize button does not work.
- To avoid this, un-maximize by double-clicking on the title bar or by using the “Restore Down” button.
- Occasionally, a graphical corruption will cover part of a module name (tab).
- If needed, use the drop-down arrow on the right for module selection (which usually also resolves the corruption).

Release date January 11, 2013
32 bit Install
64 bit Install
This is an update to Alteryx version 8.1.0.34937 and includes the following fixes:
CASS licensing in previous Alteryx versions expires January 22, 2013. This update will install the new CASS license.
- Drivetime bug fix - where the error "Unknown error in Build Polygon" would occur.

- Scheduler bug fix - when a pipe error was thrown, the Scheduler would stop working.
- Memory leak fixes where memory use was increasing while configuring tools.
- Input/Output improvements when writing to Windows Shares.

Windows XP Support: As of the Alteryx 8.0 release, Alteryx no longer supports the Windows XP operating system. Microsoft ended the mainstream support of XP as of April 14, 2009.
- Please ensure your system is running Alteryx in an environment we support - 32 and 64 bit operating systems of Vista SP1, Server 2008, Windows 7, Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, and Windows 8 Server.
New Scheduler Service: As of the 8.0 release, the Scheduler has been completely redesigned to work with the web architecture and distributed scheduling is now supported. Installation of the new Scheduler will not use the older Access database, therefore all scheduling must be recreated using SQLite or MongoDB.
- It is very important that all licenses are installed by an Administrator to ensure all users are properly licensed and the service is properly configured on the machine.
Differences with Apps: Desktop vs. Web:
- Unsupported Question Types: Folder Browse. File browse works as expected.
- Prohibited Tools on the Web: Download tool, R tool, Run Command tool, Emil tool and Events are not permitted in apps published to the Analytics Gallery. The steps for applying for an exemption are outlined in the gallery and desktop.
